There exists a paradigm that the decision to be a leader does not lie within yourself, but essentially with your colleagues or team members who will decide if they want to follow you, and if so, they will most likely follow you due to the respect your actions command.
Quite a compelling statement, and yet not many people understand the concept of being a true leader and the practice of effective leadership.
The key to your leadership approach lies in Maya Angelou’s comment when she stated that: “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
From the numerous studies on ‘Leadership’ it is evident that this subject matter is difficult to define, often misunderstood and frequently practised in an incorrect manner. Viewpoints on leadership are as many as the stars in the sky. I would like to think our angle on the theme is like a shooting star.
